At the event, titled “Envisioning our green future,” BCDA will be awarded for promoting in economic zones the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Of the core criteria of 17 SDGs, BCDA has exemplified No. 6, Clean Water and Sanitation; No. 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; No. 13, Climate Action; and No. 17, Partnerships for the Goals.

BCDA is dedicated to maintaining the supply and sustainable operations of water and sanitation infrastructure. For incorporating sustainability strategies in programs such as its sanitary landfill and its waste-to-energy facility in New Clark City, the development authority supports SDG No. 6.
By developing New Clark City as a model economic zone and township, BCDA underscores sustainable urban planning, incorporating environmental spaces and calamity-responsive structures to support the safe and inclusive communities idealized in SDG No. 11.

BCDA works with global collaborators such as the United Kingdom to roll out sustainability programs that showcase the value of international cooperation in order to attain SDG No. 17.
Corollary to the 17 UN SDGs, the concepts of initiative, impact, inclusiveness and integration — also known as the Four I’s of Sustainability of The Manila Times — are also the basis for determining the 15 sustainability champions such as BCDA. Initiative is about beginning and completing environmentally friendly projects. Impact is involved with far-reaching positive effects. Inclusiveness is concerned with the benefit for people in the present and in the future. Integration is focused on collaborative sustainability for communities.
